TEAM ENTRY GUIDELINES

1. School Teams and Studios can compete in the following styles: Pom, Jazz, Hip Hop, Kick, Military, Lyrical, Open/Prop, Novelty/Musical Theatre, Co-Ed, Contemporary, All Male, Dance/Drill and Character.
*Note: No team can enter the same routine in multiple styles at one competition!

2. TeamX is also excited to feature Solo and Duo/Trio divisions at every competition. There is NO cap on the number of Solo and Duo/Trio routines you can enter at a Regional Event.

3. Unique Team Entry Rules: Teams can’t enter multiple routines in the same division with overlapping dancers. If a team wants to enter several routines in the same division, they must use different team names.

4. Team Sizes: For all divisions except Solo and Duo/Trio.

   - Team size is determined during initial registration process.

   - At least four dancers must be registered for each routine to compete in the Team Competition. Teams can still compete if they drop below four dancers, as long as they were registered. TeamX Directors reserve the right to change categories if deemed necessary.

ELIGIBLE TEAMS

1. Regional Competitions: High School, Middle School and Elementary School Teams as well as Studio teams are all welcome to compete at TeamX!

2. School Team Guidelines:

   - Teams must be official school dance teams under athletics or fine arts. Home school students are welcome to join!

   - For high schools, Varsity status is determined by school recognition, regardless of dancer age.

   - Middle School teams can’t have more than 49% of dancers in 9th grade.

   - All dancers in Elementary teams must be in 6th grade or below.

3. Studio Teams are those that compete under a private studio name and have no school affiliation.

4. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT SCHOOL TEAMS

a. Eligibility of School Teams

Each team must be an officially recognized school dance team at their institution (or within the same cooperative school district, provided such participation is not restricted by state laws). This includes teams categorized under athletics, club sports, or fine arts programs. Home-schooled students are also eligible to compete with a school-affiliated team.

b. School Team Divisions

• Varsity Teams: A team is classified as Varsity if the school designates the dancers as Varsity members, regardless of their ages.

• Junior Varsity Teams (JV): A team is classified as Junior Varsity if the school designates the dancers as Junior Varsity
or “B” Team members, irrespective of their ages.

• Middle School Teams: A team is considered Middle School if fewer than 50% of its dancers are
in 9th grade, and no dancers are in 10th grade or higher. If 50% or more of the dancers are 9th graders,
the team will compete in Junior Varsity or Varsity, as per their preference.

• Elementary School Teams: A team is classified as Elementary if all dancers are in 6th grade
or younger, and all dancers attend the same school (or cooperative school district, if allowed by state law).

c. Studio Teams

A Studio Team is a team that consists solely of dancers who train privately at a dance studio, separate from their high school and choose to compete under the respective studio name. (Studio Teams will be placed in their own category for team competition.)

d. Team Naming

A school team can perform under any name — either their official school name or a unique team name of their choice — and still compete in the school divisions.

e. Number of Dancers

A registered team may adjust the number of dancers participating in a routine up until registration closes (usually 14 days before the event date). After this date, changes can only be made due to documented injury or school disciplinary action. TeamX reserves the right to request documentation for such changes.

f. International Teams

Teams outside of the United States are eligible to compete in Regional or National events but must enter divisions based on team size in comparison to their U.S. counterparts.

g. Late Changes to Team Size

In the event that a team’s size changes after registration (due to illness, injury, or other factors), the following applies:

If changes are made at least 24 hours before the competition: TeamX will notify all teams of the new division.

If changes occur within 24 hours of the competition: The team will remain in their originally assigned division. Failure to notify TeamX immediately of size changes may result in disqualification from the affected routine.

5. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT SOLOS/DUOS/TRIOS/STUDIO TEAMS

a. Solo/Duo/Trio Divisions

Solos will compete based on the grade of the dancer in the routine. Duo/Trios will compete based on level i.e. Varsity, JV, etc:

• Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior: Grades 9-12

• Middle School: Grades 6-8

• Elementary: Grades 3-5

• Mini: Grades K-2

COMPETITION DIVISION RULES

Teams will be organized into divisions within each dance style based on the number of dancers competing. For example: Xtra Small, Small, Medium, and Large divisions. These registered number of dancers will be monitored throughout the competition day by judging staff for fairness and correctness.

THE TEAMX SOLO SHOWDOWN

At TeamX Regionals, we will host a TeamX Solo Showdown:

• Top 10 highest scoring soloists will be announced during the lunch awards following the morning portion of competition.

• They will be announced in performance order, which is in no way linked to their qualifying score.

The TeamX Solo Showdown offers a fun and energetic atmosphere where selected soloists can showcase their high scoring solo for both the audience and their fellow competitors. The Solo Showdown celebrates team spirit, creativity, and performance quality without formal scoring, rather soloists are ranked from 10 to 1 and then announced at the final awards ceremony.
